Type II Diabetes is a Symptom, not a Disease

I’m sure you know someone who has Type II Diabetes, or perhaps you may have it yourself.   If untreated or if it is out of control, Type II Diabetes can cause a multitude of health issues ranging from blindness, cardiovascular disease, and even loss of your limbs.  When a Doctor has determined that a person has this disease, they are usually treated with oral medications or insulin injections to lower that person’s blood sugar by forcing the body to absorb more insulin. Then the doctor proceeds to explain to the patient that they need to exercise and lose weight. Unfortunately, the medications themselves will cause weight gain especially if you don’t change your eating habits.

If you want to take control over your Type II Diabetes and your body’s ability to control blood sugar, you first must understand the basics on how your body works.  When eating food, your body can digest four types of food: Fat, Protein, Carbohydrates and Sugar.  Your body loves carbohydrates and sugar because it can quickly be converted it into energy and stored fat for later use. Protein takes longer to digest, but eventually this too is converted into sugar.  Fat on the other hand, does not get converted into sugar.  During the digestion process of protein, carbohydrates and sugar,  the food is broken down and converted into sugars. Fats stay as fats, and both sugar and fat enters into your blood stream.  When your body detects additional sugar in the blood stream, Insulin is produced to take that sugar and convert it into fat to be stored in your cells.  Eventually, after decades of consuming excessive amounts of carbohydrates and sugar, the cells in the body gets tired of listing to the insulin signals (like my gas tank is full) and once this occurs your blood sugar begins to rise because the sugar has nowhere to go.

Between meals and while you sleep, the body takes that stored fat and converts it back into energy to sustain itself until your next meal (a process known as Ketosis).  You may be asking yourself “What can a person do who has Type II Diabetes?” The answer is quite simple, simply remove carbohydrates and Sugar from you diet.  Our bodies do not need as many carbohydrates as you may think.  We are slowly killing ourselves with too many carbohydrates. I truly believe that Type II Diabetes is a symptom of a more serious condition which is Carbohydrate poisoning.  Our bodies were not designed to consume all of the processed foods we have available in this day of age.
